Intro
The placenta develops during pregnancy and attaches to the wall of the uterus. It provides oxygen and nutrients to your baby through the umbilical cord and helps remove waste products from your baby's circulation.
The placenta can attach in different areas of the uterus, and the umbilical cord can insert into different parts of the placenta. Most variations do not cause problems, but some findings may change how we monitor your pregnancy or plan for delivery.
